What to Expect
Visiting American Animal Hospital
We look forward to seeing you! When preparing for a visit, please use these guidelines:
First Visit
- We ask first-timers to please:
- Arrive 10-15 minutes before your scheduled appointment to share information about your pet with us, and allow time for a clinic tour if desired.
- Obtain medical records from your previous veterinarian, if applicable, or call that office and give permission for them to release the records directly to us upon request.
- Bring a fresh stool sample (less than 8 hours old) in a clean, disposable container with a lid. If you need a container and sample-collecting instructions, please contact us the day before your appointment. We’re happy to provide these items at no cost.
- Keep your dog on a leash and your cat in a cat carrier or on a leash for their safety.
- Allow an extra 15 minutes for your first visit so we can become well acquainted with you and your pet.
Periodic Wellness Visit
For routine checkups, please:
- Arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment to update your client and pet records.
- Bring a fresh stool sample (less than 8 hours old) in a clean, disposable container with a lid. If you need a container and sample-collecting instructions, please contact us the day before your appointment. We’re happy to provide these items at no cost.
- Bring all medications your pet is currently taking.
- Keep your dog on a leash and your cat in a cat carrier or on a leash for their safety.
Illness Visit
When coming for specific treatment, please:
- Arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment to update your client and pet records.
- If recommended when setting up the appointment, please bring a fresh stool sample (less than 8 hours old) in a clean, disposable container with a lid. If you need a container and sample-collecting instructions, please contact us the day before your appointment. We’re happy to provide these items at no cost.
- Keep your dog on a leash and your cat in a cat carrier or on a leash for their safety.
- The receptionist may ask you to leave your pet in the car when you first arrive. This allows us to bring your pet in a side door and directly into an exam room. This helps minimize your pet from "sharing" their illness with other patients.
